Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Cabin Fever is the sixth book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, written by American author Jeff Kinney. It was first announced in The Ugly Truth as "More Diary of a Wimpy Kid", then it was announced in The Wimpy Kid Do-It-Yourself Book as "Diary of a Wimpy Kid 6". The title and book cover was announced on June 16, 2011.

Overview

The Heffleys are being kept inside because of an extreme snowstorm, and so Greg has to deal with being with his family and becomes claustrophobic. He has to learn to cope without any friends by his side during a blizzard.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw (2012)

In an interview, Bostick said that The Last Straw could be in the works and is "90% sure it will happen" depending on the success of Rodrick Rules. The movie is currently in the works. Gordon said on his Facebook page that The Last Straw will begin filming in August (like the previous two films), and will possibly be released in March or April 2012. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw will also film in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

A fourth film is also possible to happen based on a book of the same title.

The New York Times, which ranks children's serials collectively on a "Series Books" bestseller list, has included the Wimpy Kid series for 64 weeks as of April 10, 2010. USA Today, which ranks best sellers based on sales alone regardless of genre or intended audience, has listed Diary of a Wimpy Kid in its top 150, peaking at number 8, for 141 weeks as of April 4, 2010. As of the same date, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules has been on the list for 117 weeks (peaking at number 4), Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw has been on the list for 65 weeks (peaking at number 1), Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days has been on the list for all 25 weeks of its publication (peaking at number 1), and The Wimpy Kid Movie Diary has been listed for all three weeks of its publication, peaking at number 2 As of May 2010, more than 32 million Wimpy Kid books are in print in the U.S., and the books have been sold in more than 30 countries.

Greg's classmates

 Fregley

Fregley, is a repulsive, disgusting, dorky, and weird kid. In Dog Days, it is revealed that he is sent home once every month for improper hygiene. Greg expresses discomfort around Fregley, especially because every time Greg walks by his front yard to get to Rowley's house, Fregley tries to talk Greg into topics such as his "secret freckle" or how his scab smells. Fregley never leaves his front yard during the summer, which Greg believes is because Fregley's parents had installed an electric fence around the yard. In the movie, he is played by Grayson Russell and in the second movie, he is said to join the cheerleader's team
In the FunBrain version, his name is spelled "Fregly," and he does not go to school.

 Holly Hills

Holly Hills, the sister of Heather Hills, is a girl Greg likes in The Last Straw. According to Greg, she is the fourth prettiest girl in his grade. At the end of The Last Straw, Greg gives up on trying to make Holly his girlfriend because she mistakes him for Fregley, which Greg takes as an insult. Also, she tells Greg that he's OK, but doesn't really know him too well, but due to an even nicer note to Rowley, he gives up trying to impress her again, as well as forges a reply from Rowley turning her down. She appears in the script Greg makes for a skit for the talent show called The Boy Whose Family Thinks He's a Dog in Rodrick Rules. She also appears once in Dog Days. It is revealed in The Last Straw that Holly's middle name is Elizabeth. In the film adaptation of the sequel, things take a slightly different turn, and she ends up becoming a friend of Greg (and possible love interest). She is played by Peyton R. List.

 Chirag Gupta

Chirag Gupta is one of Greg's classmates. He is the shortest person in Greg's classes, but he has a strong punch. People often take advantage of his small size with pranks, such as the Invisible Chirag joke, wherein Greg and Chirag's other classmates still pretend he is gone after he moves back from California after a couple of months, but came back.
In the film adaptation of the first novel, he is played by Karan Brar and tells Greg and Rowley about the story of The Cheese Touch, and seems to be builled by the other kids.

 Patty Farrell

Patty Farrell is Greg's arch-nemesis in Diary of a Wimpy Kid. She is the one who plays Dorothy in the school's production of The Wizard of Oz. Greg says that when he started throwing apples from his onstage tree at her, an apple hit Patty's lenses and she was unable to see more than two feet in front of her. In The Last Straw, Patty supervised the class when the teacher, Mrs. Craig was gone, and would not let Greg use the bathroom while she was supervising.
In the film adaptation of the novel, where she is played by Laine MacNeil, Patty goes against Greg in the wrestling match, she won and got it got printed on the front page of the School Newspaper along with a photo. The headline was 'A Great Day For Women' (In the movie). She was also Dorothy in the school play. Patty ruins the play by throwing a temper tantrum at Greg when he and the other cast members playing trees do not sing provoking Greg throwing apples at her. Patty also unknowingly catches the Cheese Touch from Rowley. She also really liked Rowley Jefferson, Greg's best friend and seemed to have beaten up Greg in kindergarten and the fourth grade for singing "Patty, Patty is a fatty, has a face just like a ratty," and making fun of her. She always reminds Greg that she can easily beat him up if he's mean to her, and always uses that as a threat.

Collin Lee

Collin Lee is Greg's back-up friend. Despite that, Collin becomes Rowley's new best friend in Diary of a Wimpy Kid. In the movie, as him and Rowley make t-shirts like "Best Friends" and dance with their mothers and have ice cream cones and are said to stay over at his house a lot.
Also, Greg's pre-algebra teacher in Rodrick Rules is named Mrs. Lee. She and Collin could be related.

Alex Aruda

Alexander "Alex" Aruda is one of the smartest people in Greg's school. According to Greg, he is smart because teachers in Greg's school call on students whose last names are first in alphabetical order, forcing those kids to become the smartest. Although he is intelligent, Alex is oblivious to what goes on around him; for example, in The Last Straw, Alex does not realize his class is being kept inside for recess until Greg tells him so. He also stole Mrs. Craig's dictionary to study for the spelling bee.

Albert Sandy

He tells Greg and other classmates lies he hears about. Sometimes Greg tries doing the stuff he says, and it all fails.

Christopher Ziegel

Christopher Ziegel appears in the second book Rodrick Rules, and a lot of people think that he is very bad at math.
In the FunBrain version, his name is Larry Ziegel.

Mamadou Montpierre

Mamadou Montpierre was in Rodrick Rules and was Greg's pen-pal in France. They only wrote it because it was a class assignment. Greg does not keep up the contact because of a strange picture Mamadou sent him.

Marty Porter

Marty Porter is a boy who runs for Treasurer along with Greg in Diary of a Wimpy Kid. According to one of Greg's voting campaign posters, Marty had head lice in the second grade, it also says that it closed the whole school. He caught heat from Vice Principal Roy from them because he could not write fabrications about his opponents and confiscated them, even when Greg pointed out that it was not a fabrication.
In the FunBrain version, his name is said to be Musti Patel at first but is then changed to Marty Porter for some reason, and changed back to Musti Patel sometime afterwards.

Darren Walsh

Darren Walsh is the first victim of the Cheese Touch and is ostracized by his peers.
In the FunBrain version, his name is Darnell Washington.

Archie Kelly[2] plays one of the three trees in the school's production of The Wizard of Oz. Greg and another kid play the other two. During the play, Manny shouts "Bubby" upon seeing Greg, who then redirects the nickname to Archie.
The kid who plays the other tree, besides Greg and Archie, is said to be named Marty in the movie. However, his name is said to be D.J. Harold in the FunBrain version. His name is not revealed in the books.

Rodney James

Rodney James plays the shrub in the school's production of The Wizard of Oz. On the night of the play, he has stage fright, even though he has no speaking lines.

George Fleer, Nicky Wood, Christopher Brownfield and Tyson Sanders

George Fleer, Nicholas "Nicky" Wood, Christopher Brownfield, and Tyson Sanders, along with Greg, form a Guess Who team in The Ugly Truth during a school lock-in. They were accused of taking a photograph of a student's butt, when it was actually Tyson's elbow.[6]

Manny Heffley

Manny Heffley is Greg's younger brother who is "spoiled" by his parents and he is also selfish, bratty, mean, paranoid and cowardly because of the spoiling. Manny usually gets whatever he wants in his life, mostly because he throws extreme tantrums. He does not care for his brothers and panics when he thinks something might harm him. He is commonly known for calling Greg "Bubby", which Greg finds upsetting, annoying and embarrassing. In Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Greg receives a birthday gift from Manny with the tag reading "To Bubby", which he quickly throws away, for fear of his friends finding out about the nickname. Also, he draws a picture on Greg's door and his parents find it cute, rather than rebuking him. In Rodrick Rules, Manny's potty training has a huge setback due to a joking reference to the "potty monster" by Uncle Joe. Whenever Greg has a sleepover with Rowley, Manny always interferes, which causes Rowley to leave early.
Manny has told on Greg for things he saw before talking age, such as breaking a sliding glass window, which had occurred two years before. Manny has cried in all the books except The Ugly Truth. (In Diary of a Wimpy Kid, he cried because he swallowed the tiny ball of thread that Greg told him was a spider. In Rodrick Rules, he cried because Susan said he could have died when he laughed so hard that apple juice came out of his nose. In The Last Straw, he cried because Rodrick melted his toy truck with a magnifying glass under the Sun and because Greg called him "Ploopy" in church. And in Dog Days, he cried because Rodrick said the hump seat in the car was horrible.) He once crawled into Rowley's sleeping bag at one of Greg's sleepovers, according to a story told in Rodrick Rules. In the upcoming book Cabin Fever, he will be the secondary main character.
He starts at age 2 and turns 3 in Diary of a Wimpy Kid, starts at 3 and turns 4 in Rodrick Rules, remains 4 in The Last Straw and Dog Days, starts at 4 and turns 5 in The Ugly Truth, and remains 5 in Cabin Fever.
In the movies, Manny is portrayed by twins Connor and Owen Fielding.

Frank Heffley

Frank Heffley is Greg's father. He is interested in U.S. history, especially the American Civil War, and he even made a replica of an American Civil War battle field. Frank is edgy around Rowley, does not appreciate Greg's skill at video games, loathes heavy metal music,,and strongly detests adolescents. He once threatened to send Greg to the Spag Union Military Academy. In The Last Straw, Frank is the main antagonist, as he is trying to toughen Greg up and threatening to send him to military school if he does not "shape up." Frank is also a junk-food addict and sometimes steals Greg's lunch snacks on which Greg depends to make it through the day.Dog Days after Frank rethinks sending Greg to Spag Union in the end of The Last Straw, but more significantly, over their mutual dislike of the comic strip Lil Cutie. Frank is played by Steve Zahn in the movies.

Susan Heffley

Susan Heffley is Greg's mother. She tries hard to be a good, loving, and a dedicated mother and wife, but she constantly makes mistakes. Susan knows very little about modern children and teenagers, and her ignorance always bothers Greg and Rodrick.] She constantly tries to get Greg to enjoy reading in order to pull the family together, and helps Greg and Frank accustom themselves to the music of Rodrick's band, but her pursuits always end in failure. She often uses "lame old-school" tactics. She is also the main antagonist in Dog Days.
Susan and her husband pay far more attention to Manny than their other two sons (mostly Susan), and give their youngest nearly everything he wants. Susan humiliates Rodrick on stage during the school talent show in Rodrick Rules, when she performs an embarrassing dance on stage during Rodrick's band's heavy metal In the movies, she is played by Rachael Harris. performance .
In the FunBrain version, her first name is Ann.

Rodrickh Heffley Character Close-up

Rodrick Heffley

Rodrick Heffley is Greg's older brother and is often mean to Greg. He does not talk to his brother Manny at all, and is a fan of heavy metal. He starts a heavy metal band named Löded Diper but he misspelled it and the real name is Loaded Diaper who Greg says his band is terrible with their lead singer, Bill.
In Rodrick Rules, he is the main antagonist and constantly bullies Greg, threatening to spill Greg's "big secret". Rodrick enjoys sleeping, which is shown when his parents forget to wake him up. Consequently, he sleeps for thirty-six hours straight, not knowing he skipped a day of his life until the night of the day he woke up Rodrick also drives a van with his band's name, "Löded Diper" in giant letters.
In the movie, Rodrick is portrayed by Canadian actor Devon Bostick; Susan asks Rodrick to give Greg advice about middle school to which he tells Greg not to sit or go anywhere, sit down, raise his hand, or choose the wrong locker. He also admonished Greg that he had be dead or homeschooled by end of the year and not to be seen with Rowley. Also, Rodrick also called Rowley childish names on several occasions. These names includes Turd Burglar, Chummybuttons, Tool, Baby Hippo, and Chunky Cheese. And he got grounded for what his mother considered a pornographic magazine.
In the second film, Bostick reprised his role as Rodrick Heffley. Also, you see that he cares about his band very much, and becomes closer to Greg. After having a party behind his parents back and being found out, they forbid him from playing in the local talent show. Rodrick is devastated, and blames Greg. The new band member claims they will play anyway, even though Rodrick started the band. When Greg sees how much this hurts his brother, he agrees to be Rowley's assistant even though "it's embarrassing" and the girl he's crushing on is in the audience, if Rodrick can play. The show is a hit and the brothers make up. However, they return to their picking on each other, but this time it's more playful and you can see that they mean a lot to each other.
He starts at age 15 and turns 16 in Diary of a Wimpy Kid, starts at 16 and turns 17 in Rodrick Rules, remains 17 in The Last Straw and Dog Days, starts at 17 and turns 18 in The Ugly Truth, and remains 18 in Cabin Fever
